Victim Jeff Fitzpatrick speaks to 60 Minutes about Cardinal George Pell and Pell’s attempt to bribe him to shut him up. Sent to a Catholic orphanage at 11, Jeff was raped 14 times and abused over 30 or 40 times. Brother William Houston raped him over a three day period and when he reported it, he was called a liar, a trouble maker and then belted ten times with the strap on his hand.

During mediation he was offered $50,000 and told to shut his mouth. They first told him $20,000. Then the church stated in the document he had from the church that they did not admit to anything and to swear to not make any comment of any type to any person, or publish any writing, or any comment about anything. In other words, they gagged him.

He told George Pell specifically he everything. David Risdale also went to Pell and told him about the abuse he suffered by his uncle Gerald Risdale.

Pell’s response to David? I want to know what it will take to keep you quiet. Of course Pell denies any of this.

The Catechism offers a clear moral teaching: "Rape is the forcible violation of the sexual intimacy of another person. It does injury to justice and charity. Rape deeply wounds the respect, freedom, and physical and moral integrity to which every person has a right. It causes grave damage that can mark the victim for life. It is always an intrinsically evil act. Graver still is the rape of children committed by parents (incest) or those responsible for the education of the children entrusted to them." (no. 2356) Note that rape is "an intrinsically evil act," meaning that it is evil at its very root, nothing justifies it, and it is objectively a mortal sin. An evil act was done against me, a crime, by a priest at St Thomas More Parish in Durham, NH. An evil and a crime I will no longer keep silent about. Those who perpetrate crimes against children, especially those of the Roman Catholic Church, should all be punished for their crimes against children. Anything less would be criminal.

    Thank you Geoff Fitzpatrick for your courage to go to the police all those years ago and reporting Christian brother William Houston.for the abuse he did to you and many other boys at St Augustine’s boys orphanage , Highton Geelong
    I hope you know he is in jail for 8 long years .
