DIXON – One catholic priest is no longer with his parish after the church he worked for announced he and his computer are being investigated by police.  Parishioners, however, are left to their own devices to determind why exactly the priest is no where to be found.

A letter to parishioners of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Dixon acknowledged Father John Gow’s absence from the parish on Highland Avenue.  Parishioners say Gow left the parish before Christmas of 2012.

The author of the letter from the Diocese of Rockford, Msgr. Eric Barr, writes that Fr. Gow had been removed by the Diocese because police are currently investigating conduct of the priest, “relative to his computer use.”  The letter adds that Gow is receiving treatment for this supposed issue that’s, “affecting his priesthood.”

The letter is suggestive of child pornography says Barbara Dorris, outreach coordinator of the Survivor’s Network of those Abused by Priests, or SNAP.

“We’re left to guess,” said Dorris.  “But the guess would be, since adult porn is not illegal, that is would lead you to believe it’s child porn, or is he selling ivory tusks from the rectory?  We don’t know.”

Dorris says this sort of vague communication in regard to potential crimes committed by priests is what’s plaguing the Catholic Church.

“Why didn’t they immediately inform parishioners so that parents could talk to their children and say, ‘Have you been hurt?'” questions Dorris.

“You need to get to the truth of these matters and you do that by encouraging people to tell what they know.”

The Diocese maintains that there are no allegations of abuse against Fr. Gow and no charges have been filed against him.  They say his removal is precautionary.

“How do we know there’s no abuse if you’ve kept it secret all this time?”

“If he is in possession of child porn, he did harm a child and again we’re guessing because they haven’t told us why the police are investigating him,'” commented Dorris.

The Diocese’s letter mentions that Fr. Gow will not be returning to the St. Patrick Parish.

About victimsofrapebythercc

The Catechism offers a clear moral teaching: "Rape is the forcible violation of the sexual intimacy of another person. It does injury to justice and charity. Rape deeply wounds the respect, freedom, and physical and moral integrity to which every person has a right. It causes grave damage that can mark the victim for life. It is always an intrinsically evil act. Graver still is the rape of children committed by parents (incest) or those responsible for the education of the children entrusted to them." (no. 2356) Note that rape is "an intrinsically evil act," meaning that it is evil at its very root, nothing justifies it, and it is objectively a mortal sin. An evil act was done against me, a crime, by a priest at St Thomas More Parish in Durham, NH. An evil and a crime I will no longer keep silent about. Those who perpetrate crimes against children, especially those of the Roman Catholic Church, should all be punished for their crimes against children. Anything less would be criminal.

  1. Damn!! Let’s just cover it up and act like nothing happened. That sucks!!what a bunch of gaga!

  2. Except the allegation was false:

If you truly believe in justice, you will remove this post, or offer a follow up correction.

    • If you stop being a smart ass I would tell you I have absolutely no problem with a follow up on this story.
You might think I do not truly believe in justice but I do. Any falsely accused priest or nun harms those of us whom have been harmed by them. Any priest found not guilty, or cleared I will always do my best to post a follow up.
You might not like what I and others are doing, but understand this. We are in fact seeking justice and if YOU truly believe in justice too, then YOU should start DEMANDING that all credibly accused Cardinals, Bishops and Archbishops and Pope Emetrius Benedict resign immediately and submit for prosecution for their crimes of covering up the rapes of children.

  3. This Pius is what I am talking about:

Recently Bill Donohue, President of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights was on the Chris Cuomo show News Day. Cuomo said to him:

“You have bashed on these issues for years and years. Most infamously, recently, saying that the Church had a homosexual problem, not a pedophile problem. I mean really incendiary, flagrant, divisive stuff. You’re saying you won’t do that anymore?”

    To which Bill Donohue responded:

“Oh no. I will always tell the truth.”

“Well that wasn’t the truth,” Cuomo countered.

“If 81% of the victims are male and 100% of the vicimizers are male, and if 78% of the victims are post-pubescent, the word in the English language is not pedophilia, it’s called homosexuality.”

Well Billy Bob Degenerate. Actually…no it is NOT. Well maybe in your twisted, degenerate, sewer mind it is. But in normal human beings minds, it is PEDOPHILIA. Now seeing you’re syphilitic mind cannot grasp concepts any longer. Let us teach you.

For perverts like your rapist priests whom prefer children under the age of 11 they are in fact called PEDOPHILES.

For perverts like your rapist priests whom prefer children between the age of 11 through 14 they are called HEBEPHILIES.

For perverts like your rapist priests whom prefer children from the ages of 15 through 19 they are called EPHEBOPHILES.

No matter how you slice it Billy Bob…when it comes time to the Roman Catholic Church they have a PEDOPHILE, HEBEPHILE AND EPHEBOPHILE PROBLEM. WOULD THAT SATISFY YOUR TWISTED NEED TO TWIST SEMANTICS YOU PIECE OF HUMAN WASTE?
